BCG Garden Series: Seed Saving
Join Holly and Sophia from Biddeford Community Gardens to learn all about seed saving! See how to save seeds from your garden including tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, lettuce, and more!
HOLLY CULLOTON
Holly’s passion for supporting Community began to take root in the early 2010s when she began helping to form Heart of Biddeford where she’s been a long-time volunteer. Initially, she spearheaded the Design Committee and Adopt-A-Park Program, then she served as Board President from 2012-2014. In 2012 she began working with Partners for a Hunger Free York County to grow Biddeford’s community garden efforts, a role that would later propel her to Co-Found Biddeford Community Gardens in 2018.
Every time she’s asked what she likes best about being part of Biddeford Community Gardens, she’ll say “it’s getting kids, toddlers to teens, into the garden.”
There are idea-people and then, there are people who go do the work. Holly is someone who easily does both and inspires others to join her on the way. Her message is clear: It’s never too late to learn to garden, or to share your harvest with your neighbors, or to find your place in our community. In fact, it’s never been a better time than it is right now.
SOPHIA MICHAEL
Sophia has been with BCG since 2021. She believes access to high-quality produce is key to good health and is grateful for the opportunity to grow it in the community. In addition to having over a decade’s worth of experience with small-scale farming, gardening, and greenhouse management in the northeast, Sophia enjoys exploring creative projects through printmaking and ceramics. She loves baby plants, leafy greens, and a good sunhat. You can catch her enjoying all three at the Williams Court garden, or at Rotary Park as the inaugural greenhouse manager in 2026!
