Interlibrary Loan Services

About the Interlibrary Service

Our Interlibrary Services ensure that you have access to an extensive range of materials beyond our library’s collection. If we don’t have the item you’re looking for, our interlibrary loan service can locate and borrow it for you from other libraries. The requested items will be delivered to our library from other libraries if available for loan.

This service expands your access to books, magazines, graphic novels, audiobooks, music on CDs, DVDs and Blu-Rays, video games, and Large Print books. We also offer a convenient reserve service for titles that are currently checked out, so you can easily secure popular items as soon as they become available.

The Interlibrary Loan Service is provided by the Maine State Library and uses a van service to transfer books between participating libraries.

How to use the Interlibrary Service

You can visit https://minerva.maine.edu to search for and request items from other libraries across the state. To get started, you’ll need a valid library card from a participating library. Simply look up the item you want and click “Request.”

When prompted, sign in using your barcode and 4-digit PIN. If you haven’t set up a PIN yet, just click “Create PIN” and follow the steps. If you run into any trouble accessing your account, requesting a book or setting up your PIN, the library staff is always happy to help.
