Locke, John Fairfield
(1838-1900) Born in Hollis, came to Saco about 1865. Owned City Market in Biddeford, and lived at 34 Beach Street in Saco. Farmer and cattle dealer. Obit BWJ 08/31/1900, p.7 c.4.

Locke, John S.
(1836-1906) Home at 90 Middle Street, Saco. Superintendent of Saco schools for 13 years; had kept book store prior to that. Obit BDJ 12/05/1906, p.7 c.4-7.

Londregan, Ellen
(1804-1900) Born in Ireland, came to U.S. in 1840’s and soon after landing came to Biddeford. One of the first Irish women to settle in Biddeford. Obit BWJ 07/20/1900, p.6 c.6.

Lord, Augustus
(1835-1907) Home at Cutts Avenue in Saco. Brother of Sam Lord. Born in Buxton & came to Saco in 1852. Chief engineer of Saco Fire Department 1872-1889. Obit BWJ 07/12/1907, p.1 c.5.

Lord, Harry K.
(1859-1919) Home at 167 Alfred Street. Son of Capt. Joseph O. Lord, who had a livery stable on Alfred Street. Son ran business for 25 years (1894-1919). Obit BWJ 08/08/1919. Business bought by Oren B. Edwards, BWJ 11/07/1919, p.3 c.6.

Lougee, Bennett S.
(1834-1916) Had shoe store on Factory Island. Oldest merchant in business here; was last man to wear frock coat and top hat at business. Obit BWJ 09/15/1916, p.7 c.2.

Lovejoy, Edward F.
“Professor” Lovejoy, with offices at 141 Main Street in Biddeford. Specialized in lung and throat ailments, was also a musician. See Bickford’s Local landmarks, p.36.

Lowell, Silvanus (Captain)
Was blind when died at the age of 86. Buried 07/22/1830. From Samuel Merrill diary, p.125.

Lubinsky, Pauline
(1868-1920) Married to John Lubinsky. Born in Boston, married there in 1886 and came to Biddeford to live. Was the head of the Lubinsky clothing store in Hotel Thacher. Mother of Sam. Obit BWJ 12/31/1920, p.8 c.7.
