O’Brion/O’Brien, William (Captain)
Name given on gravestone in Greenwood Cemetery as O’Brion and age as 75 years 6 months. Died 03/21/1884. Death notice in BDJ 03/21/1884. Gives residence as 6 Summer Street, and says “formerly of Lubec”.

O’Connor, Joseph M. (Doctor)
(1876-1917) Graduated Biddeford High School in 1895 and Bowdoin College in 1898. Studied medicine in London and Dublin. Member of staff of Webber Hospital. Obit BWJ 04/27/1917, p.8 c.5.

Old Sam (horse)
“The veteran fire engine horse of the Eben Simpson company has been retired from active service, to the city farm, and his place filled by a 1450 pounder from Boston. The new comer made his first appearance on our streets yesterday, and attracted a good deal of attention. He is a beauty. “Old Sam” has been connected with the Eben Simpson company ever since it was organized some twelve years ago.” Union and Journal, 12/03/1880, p.3 c.1.

Captain of the schooner “Mary A. Hall”, coastwise trade. Home at 29 Oak Street, Biddeford. Drowned in New York harbor. BDJ 08/29/1917, p.7 c.3.

O’Neill, Eugene D. (Doctor)

Orcutt, Lester B.
(1915-1976) Main Street in Biddeford Pool renamed Lester B. Orcutt Boulevard in memory of the deceased. Obit BSJ 11/05/1976, p.2 c.1.

Orcutt, Thomas
(1832-1906) Keeper of Wood Island Lighthouse  for 19 years. Obit BWJ 03/16/1906, p.8 c.2-3.

Osgood, Napoleon B.
(1840-1916) Born in Porter, Maine. Served in Civil War, came to Biddeford afterwards. Died 11/11/1916. Obit BWJ 11/17/1916, p.8 c.6.

Ouellette, Emile
(1913-1986) Former district chief of the Biddeford Fire Department and custodian of the McArthur Public Library. Obit JT 01/06/1986, p.2 c.6.

Owen, Daniel E.
(1868-1939) Graduated from Bowdoin College and entered Andover Theological School to study Unitarian ministry (BWJ 06/21/1889). Married Jane McArthur of Biddeford (daughter of Robert & Lydia McArthur). Moved to Philadelphia to teach at the University of Pennsylvania. Obit BDJ 10/06/1939, p.10.

Owen, George F.
(1843-1906) Former mayor of Saco, father of Daniel E. Owen. George’s father (Daniel M. Owen) was a tailor who established his business in Saco in 1842. George was taken into partnership with his father in 1865, who then died 4 years later. Obit BDJ 12/10/1906, p.7 c.1-2.

Owen, Jane E.
(1868-1948) Born Jane E. McArthur in Biddeford, daughter of Robert & Lydia McArthur. Married Daniel E. Owen of Saco, later moved to Philadelphia. Obit 03/17/1948, p.2.

Owen, Margaret E.
Daughter of Daniel E. & Jennie E. [Jane?] Owen at home, 27 North Street, Saco, age 1 ½ years. BWJ 04/16/1897, p.3 c.1.

Owen, Richard G.
Of Saco, A lieutenant in Medical Corps. Killed in action in France on 09/26/1918. Son of William H. Owen; body brought from France and burial record includes picture. BWJ 09/09/1921, p.7 c.6-7.

Owen, Sadie
Of Saco. Daughter of James and Mary Owens. Born in Biddeford, then moved to Saco. Was arrested and sent to reform school in Hallowell. BDJ 10/20/1906.
