“The veteran fire engine horse of the Eben Simpson company has been retired from active service, to the city farm, and his place filled by a 1450 pounder from Boston. The new comer made his first appearance on our streets yesterday, and attracted a good deal of attention. (1843-1906) Former mayor of Saco, father of Daniel E. Owen. George’s father (Daniel M. Owen) was a tailor who established his business in Saco in 1842. George was taken into partnership with his father in 1865, who then died 4 years later. Obit BDJ 12/10/1906, p.7 c.1-2.
